We've failed Ghana - Ayariga admits 50036918

The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariga, has admitted that key state agencies have failed the nation.

According to the former Sports Minister, several government institutions tasked to ensure that Ghana is managed effectively have all failed.

“There is an institution failure across board...from Metropolitan and District Assemblies to Town & Country Planning Department to Fire Service Department to EPA to Ministerial levels. We’ve all slept on the job,” Ayariga told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM.

Ayariga, together with officials from the Environmental Protection Agency are touring several fuel stations in the capital to verify their permits and compliance with environmental best practices.

The move comes after over a 100 people lost their lives in the flood and fire disaster at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle last Wednesday.

According to Ayariga, their checks have revealed that several fuel stations across the capital have no permits or were engaged in other businesses that are not permissible by law.

So Ayariga thinks he can just shout the "We have failed" slogan and have his way? If he admits he's failed too, let him resign. Let him go and close down the many fuel stations he owns. Or they are all operating with the required permits.

This will always be the case: Wait until there is a disaster, then we get up to solve the cause. He should have realized a long time ago that they have failed us. These Words wont change anything if he still sits with his hands between his legs.

Only Ghana is corrupt to the extent that our leaders, those who make the laws and advice us to abide by them can build a fuel station on a water way without a permit. It Shall all come to pass.

It looks like this "Failed Ghana" clause is gradually becoming a catch phrase and sooner or later, it will be what every one these ministers will say anytime things go wrong.... I think some opposite reaction to this "failed Ghana" like by force resignation has to be implemented so these people don't get to make that statement anymore..

Its infuriating to hear that... Coming to think of it, do you know that there are so many filling stations in Ghana here as compared to even Hospitals, so much more than Hospitals??? Yet you just wonder how these filling station owners get permit to start their businesses... Are they trying to tell Ghanaians that all this while some of these filling station have been operating without permit, thus operating illegally???

Then if so, they really have been sleeping on their Jobs which means all those in the departments responsible are not competent and hence should resign... We always wait for something bad to happen before we act especially when its too late..... This government is really the worst.....
