Mahama releases GH¢60m to support flood victims

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that GH¢60 million to victims of the devastating floods which rocked Accra Wednesday.

The President made the announcement Thursday evening in a media briefing.

He also declared a three-day mourning period in honour of the over 100 people who died the floods and a fire that burnt down a Goil filling station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.

When President Mahama visited the scene of the fire Thursday morning, he said he was lost for words.

“A lot of people have lost their lives. I am at a loss for words to express how I feel, many of them through the floods and then many of them through the fire incident that took place here as the result of the explosion that took place in the filling station located right here”, he said.

“We have to take some measures to be able to avoid this in the future, and often when these moves are started, you have a lot of sympathy and pressure not to take those measures, but I think that the time has come for us to move out of the waterways and the public should understand that… I mean this loss of lives is catastrophic,” he added.

The money will be released ok.. but the question is.., will it even get to the right people intended for? as for GH I tink we all knw how it happens...

But pls Mahama sack the Accra Mayor... how hard is it to do so.. the guy is complete useless ...hmmm He even got an award.. i wish the call him a take back the award....
