Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA) Ras Mubarak has mocked actress Yvonne Nelson for her failure to secure a venue to organise an “easy” event such as her #dumsormuststop vigil, which is meant to put pressure on the Mahama Government to fix the three-year-old power crisis facing the country.

Both University of Ghana, Legon and Total, owners of On-The-Run have declined, in turns, the use of their premises as the converging point for the vigil.

“Please note that our Company, Total Petroleum Ghana Limited, which is the owner of the said location, has not been contacted for any such programme and would, therefore, request the general public to disregard the announcements running on various media,” Olivier Van Parys, managing director of Total Petroleum Ghana Limited, said in a statement less than 24 hours after the University of Ghana had also issued a similar notice.

They said the organisers never engaged them to make a formal request for the use of their premises before associating them with it in the media.

The Organisers, according to reports intend converging within the Tetteh Quarshie enclave due to the latest development, a situation which Mubarak says exposes the cluelessness of the actress.

“What a show of cluelessness? These noises about dumsor are coming from a girl who would make a drum out of the skin of her own mother in order to sound her own praises. U can't get your act together for something as easy as seeking permission to use a venue, yet you would insult people who are running a country? U must not be a genius to know that you need permission to use someone's premises - public or private - for your events,” he wrote on Facebook.

Three popular Ghanaian screen icons – Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie and Lydia Forson – are championing the vigil to put pressure on the John Mahama-led administration to solve the erratic supply of electricity which has lingered on for close to three years.

The vigil dubbed #dumsormuststop is expected to come off May 16.

Ghanaian celebrities to lead the #DumsorMustStop vigil are Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie, Lydia Forosn, DKB, Ama K Abebrese, Eddie Watson, D-Black, Nikki Samonas and many others.
