Gary Neville: Chelsea boring? Nonsense!

The former Manchester United defender says the Blues' early-season form and consistency should be admired and criticised the quality of the Premier League
Gary Neville has waded into the debate over Chelsea's playing style, branding claims that the champions-elect are boring as "absolute nonsense".

Jose Mourinho's men have been clear at the top of the Premier League since the end of January and will finally clinch the title on Sunday if they beat Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

Former Manchester United defender Neville admits that Chelsea's "football form" has dipped in recent weeks but insists their early-season performances and consistent results have been more than impressive.

"It’s absolute nonsense," he said on Sky Sports. "I mean people called the Newcastle team of 1996 with Kevin Keegan exciting but they were exciting losers; nobody remembers them now.

"The fact of the matter is that people remember winners. People will remember this Chelsea team. They were exciting earlier in the season, the style was good.

"They have hit a blip in terms of the rhythm in their game and what you would call 'football form' in the last couple of months but their run of results is fantastic and that's all that matters, as far as I'm concerned. You're never going to go through a full season brilliant.

"The rest of the league has been poor ... [Chelsea are] 10 points in front, it doesn't say a lot about the rest of the league that they're going to get an easy ride at the end. It's a poor reflection on the other teams that are chasing them or supposedly competing with them.

Yeah.... It's absolutely nonsense to say that the Premier league leaders are boring... It's absolutely nonsense to say that the team that has been clear at the top of the Premier League since the end of January is boring.....Am so happy as a Chelsea fan that Chelsea lived up to expectations before the beginning of the season, as one of the favorites to win the league....

Thus the acquisition of the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and the return of Thibaut Courtois has really improved the team's style of play and maybe that's why some fans say we are boring....

Now, Chelsea can either defend and hit on counter attacks, possess the ball and try to score with short through passes  or even play long through balls to win any match.... Of course Fabregas has already giving 17 assists and now needs 3 more to break Thiery Henry's record of most assists in the premier league, 20 assists...Isn't this exciting?? But yet some people still call us boring.... Branislav Ivanovic has five assists this season... the same amount as £42.5m Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil... Now who is boring???

We also have Costa who has scored 19 goals this season after playing lesser games as compared to Aguero and Harry Kane.... And both Courtois and Cech have been excellent...There are so much i can say but i think our current position says it all...

Can't wait for Chelsea to beat Crystal Palace on Sunday to lift the Trophy at STAMFORD BRIDGE... What a way to celebrate as Champions.... BLUE IS THE COLOUR AND CHELSEA IS OUR NAME.....
