Called into action last night, for a rare start, Petr Cech never let Chelsea down.
Although Cech was beaten by an effort from Marc Albrighton, it`s fair to say that following the slip by Cesar Azpilicueta the Czech had no chance with the goal.
In fact the 32-year-old showed that he is still on top of his game by producing a world-class save to claw away a shot that was going in at the near post earlier in the half.
With Chelsea looking as if the Premier League title will be coming back to Stamford Bridge, with only one more win required, I suspect Petr falls into that trap whereby he hasn`t, although he`s been sat on the bench for most of the season, made enough appearances to be officially awarded a fourth Premier League winners medal.
But, as the countdown to Cech`s Stamford Bridge departure continues, the consensus of opinion amongst the media world this morning, is that Cech will be continuing his career at one of two clubs.
It is being widely reported that Cech will be choosing between either a move across London to Arsenal or a dash through the Channel tunnel to Paris.
The view being that Arsenal are the preferred option as it would mean Cech doesn`t have to up-root his London based family.
It`s still difficult to accept that Cech is on his way out of Stamford Bridge after all he has achieved with us, but then again I had similar feelings when Carlo Cudicini found himself in a similar position and chose to start afresh elsewhere, although we won`t mention where the Italian ended up!
