Akufo-Addo to lead NPP ‘dumsor’ demo XH57O"

The 2016 Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo will lead the much anticipated ‘dumsor’ demonstration, according to the Deputy Director of Communications for the party, Anthony Karbo.

The party will embark on a protest to express its displeasure over what they described as Ghana’s unending power crisis.

Speaking on the Point Blank segment of Eyewitness News, Karbo said: “Nana Akufo-Addo will be at the fore front of this demonstration because he needs to show that it is the concern and welfare of Ghanaians that matters.”

Many have called on the party to rather provide alternatives to end the crisis instead of just criticising the government.

Karbo, however, believes their criticism and planned protest is legitimate since the crisis, according to him, has lasted for three years under the Mahama administration.

“This crisis has lasted for three years. Some of the handing over notes the NPP gave to the NDC in 2008, didn’t include this electricity crisis.”

Karbo further recalled that the Kufuor administration in 2007, took “certain measures” when it was faced with similar power challenges.

“The Kufuor administration did not sit down and ask the NDC to provide alternatives for us in terms of what we needed to do. We knew how to get out of the mess and that is why one of the things that we did was to establish the VRA plant in Tema which gave us a 110 megawatts”.

Karbo further chastised government for what he described as delays in completing crucial projects that would have ensured that Ghana’s power generation systems are strengthened.

“Atuabo should have been ended by 2010. This government should have gotten Atuabo up and running but today as we speak Atuabo is not up to full capacity.”

Ghanaians have complained about the crippling power challenges which they say is grinding their businesses to a halt.

This "Dumsor" demonstration is going to be massive....I only hope it sparks something positive in response to the general dissatisfaction in the entire country relating to this extremely disgusting thing called "Dumsor" ....

Waiting to see what happens during and after this massive demonstration since every concerned Ghanaian hopes to see what will come out of it...
