Keep your zip closed – Pastors told 27251892
A former Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, Very Rev. Dr Emmanuel K. Gbordzoe, has advised pastors who want to go far with their calling to keep their zips closed.

“As for the young girls, if you hide and do something with them, one day somebody will come and preach a hot sermon and they will go and confess that this is what this or that pastor did.”

“This will retard the progress of your ministry, marriage and business and even cut your journey short. You may even be dismissed from the ministry. That is the end of your ministry; one sexual act takes away all the ministry work God has given you,” he said at the ordination ceremony of 25 pastors in Accra.

According to the church’s doctrine, a pastor qualifies for ordination after graduating from the Global Theological Seminary (GTS) and serving and ‘pastoring’ a congregation for two years.

The ordination ceremony at the packed auditorium of the Trinity Parish at Kotobabi was characterised by praises, worship and cheers on a day that one female and 24 male pastors stole the show.

Preaching on the topic: “When God speaks,” Very Rev. Dr Gbordzoe took the congregation on a journey of righteousness.

He bemoaned the manner in which some pastors, lured by the search for riches, had dropped the salvation message.

According to him, some pastors today do not want to speak the truth or preach the salvation gospel because they want to please rich people in society so that they can benefit from their financial largesse.

He, therefore, advised the newly ordained pastors to be wary of such an attitude, saying: “If you do that you’ll die on the way; you may not die physically but spiritually, and God will not be with your sermon anymore.”

Making reference to I Kings 13:19, the former moderator said that when God speaks, man must obey. “Whenever you sin, you isolate yourselves from the Lord Jesus Christ, and you can easily come under attack,” he said.

He advised the new pastors to allow the word of God to rule their hearts and unite them with Jesus Christ in order to secure their place in the Kingdom of God.

Very Rev. Dr Gbordzoe told them that so far as they were servants of God, Satan would certainly cross their path, but he encouraged them to be steadfast and stand firm in their work for God.

The Moderator of the church, Rt. Rev. Dr Edem Tettey, while congratulating the newly ordained pastors, urged the congregation to accord them the needed respect.

Among the dignitaries present at the ceremony were the Synod Clerk of the church, Rev. Prince Tefe, and a former Synod Clerk, Rev. Dr Setorwu K. Ofori.
