'Untrained people in the movie industry problematic' – Movie director 27637114.295

Award winning movie director, Frank Garbin has said the movie industry is made up with untrained people.

The 'Broni Wawu' movie director commenting on why people have issues with directors and producers using young actors to play an elderly role explained that, although there is nothing wrong with the act, there is a challenge when make-up artistes do not do their job well.

Speaking to Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch, Mr. Garbin said some make-up artistes use chalks to make up some young actors playing the role of an elderly, thereby making mockery of the arts.

“If you get a very good make-up artiste and the actor can interpret the role well, it works a lot. The problem comes when you have a young actor who does not have the talent, wisdom, voice and structure to interpret the role. We also have a challenge when a palace scene has a complete set of elders whose faces are made up with chalks”.

Adding: “It is possible a village may not have elderly people as chiefs. In that case, there would not be any need to make them up”.

He advised that proper training should be given to movie makers so they act professionally
