'Stop singing and write for people' - Root Eye tells Daasebre Gyamena 71236740.295

Reggae/Dancehall musician who doubles as a radio and television presenter Mr. Root Eye has said that veteran high life musician Daasebre Gyamenah should forget singing and take his song writing ability seriously.

The veteran musician/media personality said this on Ghana’s showbiz morning show, AM Pluzz on Pluzz 89.9FM.

“Personally I think Daasebre is a very good song writer and not good in delivering them vocally so writing songs for people will be a very good idea” he advised.

In the discussion on how to revive song writing abilities in our industry, Mr. Root Eye said that to make song writing improve in our industry, music reality shows should make song writing a part of the whole process and not just contestants learning other people`s songs to perform on stage.

He lamented that our industry is lacking that important aspect of song writing because we have lost the good content in our music long ago and to bring that culture back, we need to adopt that in our music reality shows.

Mr Root Eye blamed fallen standards on laziness and explained that years ago, a musician will write a song, take it to the studio for the sound engineer to record a beat to suit the song he has written.

However, it is the other way round today with producers making the beat, “WhatsApping” the beat to the musician to go to the studio and write something to suit the beat.

The media mogul however mentioned some musicians who are still holding in high esteem great song writing skills; Blakk Rasta, Sean Taylor, Kwabena Danso, Obrafour among others
