They both weigh the same amount, and each of them also weighs the same amount
as a pound of waakye, a pound of salt, a pound of gari, a pound of rice, a pound of
paper sugar, a pound of red paint, a pound of water, a pound of hair. I can even tell
you what the amount is: It's one pound.

In science and engineering, the weight of an object is usually taken to be the force on the object due to gravity... But weight is mass* acceleration due to gravity, mg (where g is constant everywhere on earth)

And also a pound is a unit of mass equal to 16 avoirdupois ounces (= 453.592 37 g). Today this value is the most common meaning of "pound" as a unit of weight. From the riddle, it was stated that they weigh 1 pound which means they had the same mass...

So this same mass * gravity would give you the same weight hence verifies your answer... So clearly, the clue is " a pound"....

Whether its a pound of the lightest thing on earth or a pound of the heaviest element on earth, it doesn't matter.. They both weigh the same since they all have a mass of 1 pound...

Well, i had wanted to see diverse answers to this puzzle... Anyways, you have got the answer correctly.... Congarats bro #KeepCalmAndLoveHACKGH4LIFE

A pound of feathers is heavier! Precious metals are weighed in TROY pounds, which are only the equivalent of 0.8228 pounds avoirdupois (lbs).
