The Woman in my Heart

As I lay there, restless, one winters night
The winds howling, it was gusty outside
The frost making opaque faces, long, dull and wide
My eyes wide shut, it was like I had died

Through the coating of the frost, I saw a ray of light
Bright and white, a woman, ?Hey! You there?? she cried;
An unspoken whisper, it murmured deep inside
With a soft knock by the window, I opened it wide

In swayed the light and some mist as well
How she looked, I still could not tell

She said, keeping my senses withheld

Clenching my fists, my heart thumping hard,
Drawing a deep breath, but still on my guard,
