Mel Kwasi Davis, CEO of Event Republic called rapper Atom a liar over claims that he did not know anything about Apple using his song during Worldwide Developers Conference held in June 2016.

Atom had earlier come out to say that his lawyer contacted Apple after he saw on social media networksthat they’ve used his song at their event without his consent.

Atom said his lawyer took up the issue and eventually they got a settlement from apple in the figures between $20,000 and $50,000.

Following Atom’s comments, Mel Kwasi Davis was reported to have said that the musician deceived Ghanaians with his narration.

“Bozoma Saint John came to Ghana for a vacation and was sampling some Ghanaian songs. She wanted to take some of our music to the world. It’s my cousin who is a silent partner of Events Republic who is related to Bozoma. It was Gideon, Paa John and others who help her pick a couple of songs. Later she asked for Atom’s number and so she personally handled those negotiations.

Even Atom and his team didn’t know how to charge so Apple gave him anoffer. Even people whose names were mentioned on that stage were compensated. This was on June 15th and only for Atom to come on radio to say Apple used his song and he demanded for compensation. Bozoma’s cousin called me and asked what was happening because of the reports he heard.”

After Y3wo Krom was played on that stage, the song became the number one most downloaded song in West Africa. The plan was to pave way for Ghanaians to be on some Apple sponsored events around the world. As I sit here, I can’t say if Apple will like to deal with us anymore.” Mel said on Happy FM.''

The musician is back insisting that he did not lie to Ghanaians because he knew nothing about Apple using his song. Speaking on Kasapa FM, the ‘Ye Wo Krom’ hitmaker said he never met any representative from Apple before they used his song as Mel disclosed on Happy FM.

“Due to some reason I cant put my lawyer’s name out.” He told Kasapa FM. “We wrote to Apple. We emailed them. We told them that we understand they used the song. They said they thought someone has sort us out so we should give them 45 days and they will sort us out. I went to Europe so I left everything for someone to handle. So when I returned, I was given between $20,000-$50,000. No one called me, I contacted them directly. When I saw the video, we emailed the Apple company.

“I have never met the lady who played the song, I dont know she was from Ghana. If someone went behind me to speak to the woman, then thats miscommunication. Why would I go chase someone who has paid me to use my song only for me to go back and request for another money.

“May be someone went to represent me. I left everything on behalf of a friend called Nana Yaw.. I had to even record a video to send Apple a video.”

“I never said I sued apple.”
