Memorabilia collectors items are known to sell for staggering amounts. However, the latest collector’s item to hit eBay has made headlines because it definitely isn’t a typical collectors item. It’s just a bag of air. According to the Daily Mail, the Ziploc bag of air reportedly comes from one of Kanye’s 2013 concerts during his Yeezus tour. However, the exact concert location has yet to be specified.
On Sunday, March 1, the seller listed the unconventional item. The item photo is a picture of a blown up Ziploc bag, titled “Air From Kanye Show.” The seller started the bidding on Kanye’s bag of air at only $5.00, but surprisingly, buyers immediately began gravitating to the listing with staggering bids. The highest bidder, out of more than 90, reportedly snagged the bag for a whopping $60,100. A screenshot of the massive eBay sale has gone viral on social media.
It has even caught the attention of Kanye’s famous wife, Kim Kardashian, who shared the same photo on Twitter. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star doted on her husband, stating that the bag of air is evidence that Kanye could probably “sell anything,” reports the Independent.
Of course, the staggering sale of air has caught the attention of thousands via social media. Needless to say, some users are outraged that anyone would spend so much money to have a bag of air while others questioned the authenticity of the air. But, surprisingly, there were some who justified the plight of a dedicated fan.
Several copycat listing have also appeared over the past week since the staggering bid was made. Many sellers have also listed bags of air and other collectors items from different Yeezus concerts. However, it’s probably safe to say that latest sellers won’t be lucky enough to get a $60,000 windfall for a replicated version of Kanye’s bag of air. Since the staggering sale, it will also be difficult to decipher which listings are actually authentic compared to the fake ones.
is a bagged "fart" from Kanye West, which has the reasonable starting price of just $5.00.
