Indian Girl Marries Dog To Get Rid Of Evil Spirit

The wedding ritual of the 18-year-0ld from Jharkhand and the dog was quickly organized by local elders, who believed Mangli could not marry a human, because it would cause harm to her family and community, Daily Mail reports.
The girl’s father obeyed the community guru, found the dog in the street and drove it to the ceremony.
When asked about the whole situation the bride said she was not happy to marry the dog but hoped it would help to change her fortunes for the better.
“I am marrying a dog because the village elders believe that my evil spell will be passed on to the dog. ‘After that is done, the man I will marry will have a long life.”

Her father supported the daughter’s position saying that it was the only way to “get rid of the bad luck”.
He also added that a lot of ceremonies of that kind had already been conducted in their community and in the neighbouring villages. According to the locals, such marriage will not affect Mangli’s life and she will be able to marry a man without divorcing a dog.
The girl also hopes to meet the man of her life in the future after having been cleared of evil spirits.
The custom provides that the newly-made wife should take care of the four-legged “husband” for the next few months.
It is worth mentioning that in  Hinduism, the dominant religion in Ingia, the dog it is believed to guard the doors of Heaven and Hell. In a special 5-day Tihar festival held on an annual basis dogs the dogs are worshipped as the animals carrying religious significance.

Seroiusly there exist some beliefs o. How in the world could human be married to an animal? That is against the very meaning and purpose of marriage itself. People should seek to find the true God especially in these days. This would only add to their woes as a family and not the other way round.

doesn't the girl know marrying the dog is even another whole form of spirit she is getting into? People should really seek the true God and also pray without season. God help us

Very interesting believes and culture, Even in Ghana there are deleterious belief and culture, Am sure some you have heard of them.. A dog married to a 18 year old, well . My question is will they do the do? ( you know what i mean) I wonder, ie eye asem paaa simple because her village elders says so.......

If a woman is married to an abusive husband who abuses all the time.. then i guess she might even insult the husband that way... other women do it for moneys, others do it because the crave (love and addiction) to such fantasy.

The woman is doing more bad than good

These people belong to the aboriginal Adivasi (forest dwelling) tribes. The custom is just symbolic. but the Girl wont have any intimate relations with the animal. She will just marry the pariah dog and divorce it immediately. and then she will marry a human husband. grin

These people follow the Sarna religion.

Even Hindu tribes and castes have a similar custom. but in their case , they marry a tree or plant and then divorce it. wink

This whole situation occurs only when the Girls "stars are not right".


All tribes have some or the other strange custom. we just have to accept it.

for example, Igbos and the ewe used to headhunt in the past (behead their enemies skulls and then take it back to their village as a trophy).

Hausas used to climb mountains in Kwatarkwashi and catch vultures. (A ritual to the God Magiro). This ritual stopped recently due to some problems and extinction of vultures and also sharia'a i think.
etc. .

On a side note, dont underestimate these Munda Aboriginal Tribes. They were 1 of the first tribes to rise up and revolt against the British Colonists in India and against christian missionaries.

So when it comes to marriage, there even more decimating similarities of culture among such aboriginal Adivasi (forest dwelling) tribes, i never knew that much about such tribes, thanks for the info @raspat

And yes ofcus all tribes have some strange customs or practice, that people who dont belong to such tribe wont agree or liable to it, but some of them are to gore for human to believe....very interesting indeed

I can't say it's a bad religion but I don't think I will be able to handle something like this that is why I am a Christian. you don't have to do things lyk this

Yes my friend the purpose of the wedding is besically to Ward Off Evil spirits and It’s just a tradition meant to ensure the longevity of a couple's marriage when Munda is eventually married to a human groom. And, hopefully, her next husband won't turn out to be a dog.

This is really strange, people still have believes in some outmoded culture in this modern world.

it is not strange because the same way some people will not eat dog meat others it is their favorite meat.

the world that we are leaving consist of so many things we cant even think of . a girl marring a dog aabaaa
but because of believe the girls marries the dog.
any way that is their tradition and we have to respect it.
